Each has become enormously successful in their respective trade: Tansman as composer and Kletzki mainly as conductor.
On 2 December, in the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the orchestra, conducted by Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk, will accompany flautist Łukasz Długosz in a performance of Paul Kletzki’s Concertino for flute and orchestra, Sinfonietta for orchestra and Tansman’s Symphony No.5.
The first world and Polish performances of Kletzki’s works were performed only a few days before the date of the concert in POLIN. Works like these were systematically destroyed by the Nazi regime in the 1930’s, but manuscripts were found after the war and reconstructed by the Tansman Festival in cooperation with musicologists from around the world.
The concert will provide one of the first opportunities to hear lost works of music written in the first half of the 20th century.
