Stefano Rossi began his horn studies at the age of 7. He was awarded a Master’s Degree in Music Performance with top grades at the Conservatorio di Musica "Lucio Campiani" di Mantova. He participated in the Master’s exchange programme at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. During his graduate studies at the Conservatorium, he received the best student award and won the audition for the principal horn position at the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale dei Conservatori Italiani. He continued the horn studies in Barcelona, where he completed a postgraduate diploma at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya.
In Manchester he played as the bumper principal horn at the BBC Philharmonic, both in concerts and radio recordings. He was also selected to participate in the MCO Academy which resulted in performances with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Harding in Dortmund Konzerthaus, Philarmonie Köln and Philarmonie Essen in Germany as well as Daniele Gatti in Dresden FrauenKirche and Basilique de Saint-Denis in Paris.
He has been invited as the bumper principal horn to the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst. He is the principal horn at the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi in Milan and the first-third horn at the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra.
