On the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites Sinfonia Varsovia will perform today at the Centre of Culture in the city of Żyrardów.
In the first part of the concert Sinfonia Varsovia will perform Krzysztof Penderecki’s Three Pieces in the Ancient Style, consisting of an Aria and two Menuets from the Wojciech Has film “The Manuscript found in Saragossa”.
This will be followed by Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons – a cycle of four concertos for violin and chamber orchestra with continuo harpsichord. The soloist will be Maria Machowska, an excellent violinist and laureate of many competitions, including the 13th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 2006. Since 2008, Maria Machowska has combined performances as soloist on Polish and European concert stages with the position of concert master of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra.
