This Sunday, 1 February, at 6:10 p.m., on the last day of the La Folle Journée Festival in Nantes, ARTE Television will broadcast a concert by the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra.
The programme of the concert includes, among others, “the Ball” from Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique op.14, Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 op.21 in F minor with the great Yulianna Avdeeva, winner of the 16th Chopin Piano Competition in 2010. Also performing will be two sopranos: Norwegian Marita Solberg, who is well known to Polish audiences and South African Pumeza Matshikiza. They will sing some of the most beautiful arias by Mozart, Verdi and Puccini. The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra will be conducted by Andris Poga.
Sinfonia Varsovia has been playing at the La Folle Journée 2015 festival in France for the past week. The Festival was held on 23-25 January in several cities of the Loire region and on 28 January has moved to Nantes.
The theme of this year’s Festival in France was “Passions de l’âme et du coeur” (“Passions of the Heart and Soul”). Subsequent editions of this international event will take place in Spain (March), Japan (May) and Poland (September).
Selected concerts from the festival, including performances by Sinfonia Varsovia will be broadcast at a later date by Radio France Musique.
