The last of a series of recording sessions with Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk is taking place in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio. The sessions are for a new album containing an anthology of Polish contemporary music from 1939 to 1945.
In 2014 Sinfonia Varsovia is celebrating its 30th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, we are planning to issue a triple album titled “Anthology of Polish Contemporary Music 1939-1945”. The album is of special significance in the promotion of Polish contemporary music worldwide.
The Anthology will also be issued on the eve of very important historic and musical anniversaries in 2014: the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, 71st anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto, 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising and the 100th birthday anniversary of Andrzej Panufnik.
We intend the publication to be unique in that it will feature a wide range of works by Polish composers, including Szałowski, Lutosławski, Panufnik, Bacewicz, Kassern, Weinberg, Różycki, Kisielewski and Andrzej Czajkowski, performed by Sinfonia Varsovia with soloists Marcel Markowski and Maciej Grzybowski under the direction of renowned conductors –Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jacek Kaspszyk and Renato Rivolta.
