29 April – 5 May 2014
Sinfonia Varsovia plays concerts in Japan at the La Folle Journée Festival 2014.

La Folle Journée, the greatest festival in the world to popularise classical music is taking place in several cities in Japan. The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra has already performed twice in Biwako (29 April) and will now play ten concerts in Tokyo.

The Orchestra will be conducted by Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Michel Corboz. Soloists accompanying the ensemble include Boris Berezovsky, Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Makoto Ozone (piano), Dmitri Makhtin, Serge Zimmermann (violin), Alexander Kniazev (cello) and Lucero Tena (castanets).

La Folle Journée is organised in Japan for the tenth time, thus the concerts will feature themes from all previous editions of the festival. Sinfonia Varsovia will perform works of the best-known classical repertoire – from Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven through Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Brahms to Gershwin, Bernstein and Williams.
The first and largest edition of this year’s La Folle Journée festival traditionally took place in France at the turn of January and February. In March the festival travelled to Spain and in late September it will arrive in Warsaw for the fifth time.
