Programming of the first concert in the Sinfonia Varsovia at Grochowska Street is in the hands of the audience! Listeners’ votes will decide about what Sinfonia Varsovia will play on 25 May. You may vote in three categories until 13 May.
Concerts devoted to masterpieces of classical music, film scores and musicals performed by Sinfonia Varsovia will fill the space of the newly-built Concert Pavilion at the Orchestra’s home from May to September. The new cycle, Sinfonia Varsovia at Grochowska Street will open with a Concert of Requests (25.05), featuring the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra conducted by Daniel Raiskin.
For the first time in the Orchestra’s history it is the audience that will determine the works to be played in the concert by voting in a poll. To vote please visit the Orchestra’s web site (vote here) or open the Going app and choose the works to be played. To make your choices easier, the works have been grouped in three categories, following the principles of programming a concert of symphonic music. And so, “The Appetizer” category includes, among others, the overture to Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni”, said to have been written on the night before the opera’s first performance and Rossini’s famous overture to the “Barber of Seville”. For “The Main Course” you can select Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major Op.92, a work known from films or a suite from Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker”, inspired by cultures from various corners of the world. “The Dessert” consists of dances, including Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances” and Moniuszko’s “Highlander Dances”. Voting ends on 13 May.
The events of the Sinfonia Varsovia at Grochowska Street cycle include three other concerts with a widely varied repertoire of film music, musicals and some of the best performances of powerful gypsy melodies. At the second concert Zbigniew Zamachowski and Maciej Miecznikowski will invite listeners to listen to songs from the cult film “Blues Brothers” (31.08), while the third will consist of famous themes from film scores under the direction of Krzysztof Herdzin (7.09). The calendar summer will conclude with the concert “Mad Violins and World Music”, performed by great violinist Roby Lakatos, his ensemble and the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra (21.09).
Symphonic Concerts at Grochowska Street are part of the Summer with Sinfonia Varsovia cycle. During the five months, from 12 May to 21 September, other artistic events will take place in the Concert Pavilion. These include symphonic music concerts and dance parties.
Tickets to symphonic concerts (15/10 zł) are available on the Orchestra’s web site, via the Going app and at the box office one hour before the start of the event.
