Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street
12 May – 26 August 2018
This is the eighth time the Orchestra opens its doors to listeners to attend the Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street cycle kicking off the new season of Summer with Sinfonia Varsovia. Music performed by excellent artists will resound for the first time in the newly-built Concert Pavilion at 272 Grochowska Street. Invariably, each Sunday at 4:00 p.m., listeners will be treated to an extraordinary journey through musical periods and genres.
This year’s edition of Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street will be inaugurated by the great duet of Tomasz Strahl and Janusz Olejniczak. The musicians will offer their interpretations of works by Chopin, Szymanowski and Schubert. In other concerts we will have an opportunity to hear a wealth of works by Ravel, Mozart, Debussy, Lutosławski, Penderecki and many other composers performed by renowned soloists, including Aleksander Dębicz, Olga Pasiecznik, Kaja Danczowska and Piotr Sałajczyk. Performers will also include young artists: Maria Leszczyńska – a scholar of the Sinfonia Varsovia Foundation, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music Piano Quintet, with exceptional students of that school and a cello octet made up of participants of the Sinfonia Varsovia Academy.
Hosts at each concert (including music journalists and musicologists) will make sure the listeners are comfortable with the music by discussing the works about to be performed, placing them in the proper context. Thanks to a wide range of repertoire, Summer Concerts have enjoyed equally great popularity among connoisseurs, occasional concert-goers and listeners only embarking on their musical journey. Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street comprise 30 meetings from 12 May to 26 August. Everyone will certainly find something for themselves.
Afternoon chamber music concerts are part of Summer with Sinfonia Varsovia. During the five months, from 12 May to 21 September, other artistic events will take place in the Concert Pavilion. These include symphonic music concerts and dance parties. Special programme booklets have been printed for the audience, with the most important information about what will be happening at Grochowska Street throughout the summer. Low-priced tickets have been introduced due to the development of the institution and due to work on the new concert hall. There will also be a loyalty programme – a special Listener’s Card for the most dedicated listeners.
Tickets to Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street are priced at 2 zł and are available on the Orchestra’s web site, via the Going app and at the box office one hour before the start of the event.
