Born in Krynica, Andrzej Krzyżanowski has commenced his music education in the State Elementary Music School in Miechów, continuing in the Władysław Żeleński State Secondary Music School in Cracow.
Krzyżanowski graduated from the Music Academy in Cracow in the class of Professor Barbara Świątek-Żelazna. He completed solo playing studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart in the class of the legendary French flautist Jean-Claude Gérard.
Andrzej Krzyżanowski participated in many master classes taught by such masters as Peter-Lukas Graf, Michael Martin Kofler, Julius Baker, Marina Piccinini, János Bálint, Philippe Bernold, Trevor Wye, Julius Baker and Jeanne Baxtresser.
He won a number of national competitions in Szczecinek, Sieradz, Olsztyn and Łódź.
Andrzej Krzyżanowski received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Art, an award from the Pro Europa European Foundation for Culture for exceptional artistic achievements, a scholarship from the Hans und Eugenia Jütting – Stiftung Stendal Foundation and a Creative Scholarship from the City of Cracow.
He was involved in International Bach Akademie Festival Orchestra projects and has worked together with Bach Collegium Stuttgart (Helmuth Rilling) and Ensemble 94 (Kay Johannsen).
Andrzej Krzyżanowski has been the principal flautist of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra since June 2004. He has performed as soloist with orchestras of the Poznań, Szczecin and Cracow Philharmonic and with academic orchestras in Cracow, Tübingen and Stuttgart, as well as with the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra.
He has played recitals and chamber music concerts in Paris, Stendal, Stuttgart, Cracow, Warsaw, Poznań and Łańcut.
He has played as principal flautist with the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra and the Polish Chamber Orchestra on concert stages in Europe, the United States and Japan under the direction of such conductors as Jerzy Maksymiuk, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Semkow, Jacek Kaspszyk, Grzegorz Nowak, Andrey Boreyko and Sir James Galway.
In the 2006/2007 academic year he was a teaching assistant in the flute class at the Cracow Academy of Music.
He has been a lecturer of the Sinfonia Varsovia Academy, a project intended to refine the playing skills of orchestra musicians.
Andrzej Krzyżanowski plays a Pearl Maesta 14-kt (Sankyo RS 1) flute, a piccolo by Hans Reiner and a wood flute by Carl August Schreiber - J. Mehnert.
